Meet the trustees of the Quilter Foundation

Paul Feeney

Paul Feeney


Paul is Chief Executive Officer at Quilter plc with vast financial services experience, having previously held senior posts at NatWest Private Bank and BNY Mellon amongst others. Paul is a driving force behind The Quilter Foundation and passionate mental health advocate.

Matt Burton


Matt is Chief Risk Officer at Quilter plc, having joined the business as Chief Internal Auditor in 2016. Matt was previously a partner in PwC’s Financial Services Practice and Chief Auditor at Credit Suisse EMEA. Matt is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee.

Professor Richard Breen


Richard Breen is Professor of Sociology and a Fellow of Nuffield College, University of Oxford.  He works on social mobility and on problems of inferring causal relations in non-experimental data. He recently co-edited Education and Intergenerational Social Mobility in Europe and the United States (Stanford University Press, 2020).  He is a Fellow of the British Academy, a Member of Academia Europaea, and a Member of the Royal Irish Academy.

Tim Childe

Quilter Cheviot Executive Committee
Tim is an executive at Quilter Cheviot, the investment management arm of Quilter plc. Tim has over 30 years’ experience in investment management and is a Chartered Fellow of Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI). Tim is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and also a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee.

Philippa Foster-Back CBE


Philippa began her career in Corporate Treasury and Finance, prior to her appointment as Director of the Institute of Business Ethics in 2001 from which she stepped down in April 2020.

Philippa was previously Group Treasurer at EMI Group, Group Finance Director at DC Gardner Group and Group Treasurer at Bowater after beginning her financial career at Citibank. Philippa has also held a number of trustee, major review committee and non-executive roles throughout her career. She is a past President of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).

In 2006 she was awarded the OBE for services to the Ministry of Defence in her capacity as NED and Chair of the Defence Audit Committee and in 2014 she was awarded the CBE for services to UK Antarctic Heritage. In 2018 she was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law from University of Warwick and in 2020 an Honorary Doctorate of the Open University.

Gemma Harle

Quilter Financial Planning Leadership Team

Gemma has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years with experience at both mortgage lenders and distributors. In October 2017 she joined Quilter Financial Planning and is now Managing Director of the Network Advice Business. Most recently, Gemma’s work and achievements throughout her career have been recognised by Professional Adviser who have awarded her ‘Woman of the Year: Mortgages’ in both the 2019, and 2020 Women in Financial Advice awards.

Head of Responsible Business at Quilter plc
Stewart is Head of Responsible Business at Quilter plc and brings over eight years of experience working with businesses to create positive social change, spanning corporate and third sectors. Stewart works with the Trustees to develop and manage it’s long-term strategy, partnership development and income generation.

Harvey Rathore

Events and Engagement Executive

Harvey is Events and Engagement Executive for the Quilter Foundation, and manages the day-to-day relationships with charity partners. Harvey also manages the Foundation’s fundraising, communications and engagement activity with Quilter plc employees.
