Fundraising and matchfunding
Our Quilter colleagues and financial advisers who work with us are our most passionate supporters, and often take part in fundraising activities, either individually or as teams.

I decided to support the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal – my husband and I went on holiday to Turkey in Jan 2023 for our wedding anniversary which made the appeal very close to my heart. I arranged two Samosa Days over which we raised a total of £1,134 – the figure excluded gift aid so the overall total was much higher and Quilter Foundation also matched pound for pound so all my hardwork and effort paid off massively.
My colleague Donna and I decided to brave a 10,000ft skydive in aid of the Quilter Foundation, and raised over £1,200 by doing so. It’s important to push your boundaries and prove to yourself that you are capable if you put your mind to it. It was amazing to see how everyone was more than happy to contribute not only in sponsorship but encouragement too! We are now persuading other colleagues to plan fundraising events of their own.
My colleagues and I first started raising money for The Quilter Foundation during the covid pandemic. Not only is it a great cause that delivers much needed funds to such an important charity, but it really brought people together at a time when we were all isolated. The first ‘virtual’ event saw people walking, running and cycling their way to a great weekend of fundraising. We repeated it again the following year with some people able to get together this time. In September 2023 our first full on face-to-face event will see 30 hardy souls climbing Wales’ highest summit, Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa. We have become ardent supporters of The Quilter Foundation and will continue to do what we can, encouraging people to join us to combine wellbeing, physical exercise, and the satisfaction of contributing to important causes.
We can make a positive impact on our local communities by simply giving our time. This can be just as powerful as giving money.
Every Quilter colleague is entitled to take seven hours paid time off a year to volunteer with a charity or community group, either individually or as a team.
Volunteering is a great way to connect with a charity or organisation. As well as benefiting the charity, volunteers can develop and enjoy new experiences whilst engaging with their community, meeting new people and learning new skills.
The financial reporting team felt it was right to give something back to the community and so they recently used their paid volunteering day at FareShare Southern Central. This is a local food poverty charity providing food to charities and community organisations in Hampshire, and one which has been supported by The Quilter Foundation’s Local Community Fund grant. The day started in the warehouse, sorting through food donations and preparing bundles ready for distribution. After lunch the team went out in the vans, delivering the food bundles to the communities and groups that needed them.
Marketa from the team said: “We benefited hugely from this team building experience and it was great to be able to feel that we made a positive contribution on the day as we prepared enough food bundles for the next few days ahead. The charity is always looking for more volunteers and we are looking forward to going back.”
Raj recently gave his time and experience to help run some mock interviews with the School of Hard Knocks, to help prepare candidates for real job opportunities..
“I felt this was something I could enjoy and would be of value to the people needing help. Having interviewed and recruited people many times over the years in my career, I knew I could offer some valuable advice. All the candidates were very enthusiastic and committed to the tasks so that they could get the best out of the day. We did our best to make the interviews as realistic as we could as this allowed the candidates to act naturally when giving their answers, which then allowed us to provide valuable feedback. Overall, it was a great and rewarding experience for everyone, and I enjoyed it so much that I am taking part in it again this year.”
